After last weeks postponement it was the wind who was the winner for Bassett as two identical goals from keeper Ruby Warwick helps Bassett secure a place in the semi finals of league cup.

Bassett were the first on the scoresheet as goal keeper Ruby launched the ball forward and with the help of the wind lobbed the Ferndale keeper to finish in the top corner.

This shock goal didn't panic Ferndale as they went straight on the attack and were unfortunate not to equalise as a positive attack from the Ferndale winger led to her striking the post and fortunately the ball bounced back into Ruby's arms as she was knelt on floor. And it wasn't long until Ferndale were on terms as a poor thrown in from Bassett finds the Ferndale player who isn't challenged and is allow to drive into the box and finishes past Ruby into bottom corner for 1-1.

Bass continued to dominate against a keeper who was struggling as Daisy whips in a dangerous corner that evades everyone and the keeper to go straight in at the near post for 2-1. Daisy then tears her luck again as her long range effort is straight at the keeper who can only put it out for corner.

Bassett then deal with the opposing corner and puts us in on a counter attack and sadly Bassett can't convert. Bassett then manage to score an almost identical goal as Ruby's goal kick again with the help of the wind evaded the keeper and goes into the net for 3-1 just before halftime.

With Bassett still up against it and the wind they found themselves trying to hunt down the all important 4th goal that sadly never came. Another Bassett clearance from the visitors corner saw Aoife drive up the pitch but sadly her effort is just wide.

Moments late after the resulting goal kick Elise's ball over the top is into a dangerous area and Chloe just comes up short on a 1-1 battle with the keeper. Daisy is then on another strong wide drive but her left footed strike just goes wide of the near post.

Another dangerous corner from Daisy evades everyone and finds Poppy back post, her shot is blocked and Siennas effort is delivered in dangerously and bounces off the keeper into the path of Daisy and Chloe but they are unable to connect as Ferndale frantically clear away.

As Bassett's luck in front of goal looks to have run out, Ferndale continued to pile on the pressure and were rewarded with a Long range effort with a little help from the wind that loops over Ruby and into the back of the net to set up a nervy final 6 minutes for Bassett.

As Ferndale continued to apply pressure Bassett were able to clear their lines and survive to book a spot in the semi finals next weekend at HOME against Bath City.

Bassett will need to improve for next week as they certainly struggled against the wind today, but it looks to be that the wind helped level the game up in what was a tight old contest.
