After a tough match last week against an extremely strong side the girls needed to bounce back.

And bounce back they did.

A strong performance on a Sunny September Saturday saw the girls pick up their first 3 points in their second competitive league game. The girls faced a new side in Ferndale Rodbourne who battled well. Bassett's first goal came from pressure on a Ferndale goal kick which was pounced on by Poppy who slotted home her first ever goal in Bassett colours. Our second came from another new signing in Mia who burst through the midfield baring down on goal and calmly slotted home past the keeper. Half time 2-0.

Another strong half saw Bassett dominate with a good team goal finished off by Eryn at the back post. She reacted first after a lovely whipped cross from Alisa was missed by Maya to make it three. Our fourth come shortly after when Mia broke through again found some space to find the bottom corner. As Ferndale started to tire Mia's next strike struck the defender on the back and trickled into the net to make it five, before Daisy reacted first to poke home from a yard out after an Alisa cross was initially saved by the keeper.

The defence stood strong despite a last gasp strike onto the crossbar and a good reaction from Chloe to claim the ball to ensure she and the back three kept a clean sheet which was throughly deserved. Overall a great win for Bassett in what was a tough game battling the heat. Well done Girls!!!
