A dis-jointed performance for Bassett sees them suffer defeat

A development game today for our girls against a changed Bath side. With a few new faces and a couple playing out of position Bassett started a little disjointed and made a few mistakes throughout the morning but were commended for trying to play and problem solve.

Bath started to creep up the pressure as Bassett struggled to adjust to the deliver of the corners and narrowly avoided a first scare as it went wide. And sadly it wasn't long until the hosts had the ball in the net as Skye was beat by the wide player and her delivery in sees Chloe block but the shot is too powerful and bounces out to the on rushing striker to poke home.

Bassett's first effort of the first half came from Aoife as manages to find space on the edge of the area but her clean strike is thwarted by the keeper. A dangerous through ball from the hosts is played off of Elsie into the strikers path, fortunately her shot is straight into Chloe's hands.

Bassett sadly found themselves 2-0 down shortly later as the defence line was two deep with the Bath strikers pounces first to the loose ball. One of Bassett best passing movements were able to create a perfect opportunity for Aoife as her drive forward is just wide as the keeper does enough to put her off. Bassett are forced into another mistake trying to play out from the press and the strikers shot smashes the post. Half Time 2-0

An extremely poor start from Bassett sees a mis control after a long ball is played forward and the striker is able to finish past Chloe. Holly manages to find herself in a great bit of space and drives forward and her shot is saved by the keepers feet. Bassett are now beginning to put pressure on with Maya having a great chance to run 1 on 1 and again the keeper thwarts us again.

But sadly Bassett find themselves another goal down as Bassett are punished for playing and the girl is able to drive forward and finish past Chloe for 4.

This didn't stop Bassett as they continued to look for the breakthrough and finally got their break as the back bounces around the area it manages to fall to Aoife who's shot creeps in at a tight angle. Her second goal in two games.

Bassett had further joy in the second half but were thwarted by the keeper as Ruby's ambitious effort from 25yards out found the keepers hands. A further breakthrough from Aoife saw her shot go narrowly wide, with her then finding a further drive down the wing but sadly all that was missing was the cross. A final effort from Ruby as she built up play well saw her effort saved onto the crossbar is all Bassett can muster and sadly finish on a defeat.

However a much spirited second half and valuable game time in different positions for players but two goals in both half's for the host saw them take the win.

POTM Aoife - 2nd in 3 games.
