A bitterly cold morning in Swindon

Bassett started the game well and knew they had to be up for the battle but struggled to get to grips with the game as the hosts were quick in reacting and passing. Their first goal came from a drive forward for the number 10 who was by far the hosts best player and her strikes finds the net.

After a playing well Bassett pick up the ball in the midfield but the pass is misplaced and the strikers run sees her drive and battle side by side with our defender just struggling to knock the ball out her path and the strike is in for two.

A dangerous Abbeymead ball is played through and after a minor communication issue ball the striker nicks in and finishes. Abbeymeads began to take a strong lead in the game as the striker finds herself wide and runs to the byline and crosses, a great save from Ruby finds three players at the back stick to bundle home.

Again Bassett we're beginning to warm into the game and we're still continuing to play football and sadly a misplaced pass is picked up by the striker and she nips in again and finishes. And sadly the hosts were able to pinch another as the striker drives through and finishes for 6.

A half for Bassett that they may wish to forget however was able to finish on a high as Mia's drive inside saw her finish cleanly into the bottom corner for 6-1.

Second half was much more positive for Bassett as they continued to improve and battle their way through. Daisy found herself driving through on goal and her left footed strike is at the keeper. Shortly later Bassett are awarded a free kick and Holly delivers in a lovely ball and finds Mia who finishes for her second of the morning.

The game began to settle with both teams settling this time the Abbeymeads striker takes a shot on the edge of the area and saved by Ruby. Another great free kick delivery by Holly sees Poppy's intake shot blocked and bounces up to Mia who strikes on the volley sadly it strikes the back of Daisy's head and Mia's second effort is blocked away.

However the only goal of the game came from good play from Abbeymeads old keeper who come out on pitch. Her skills were able to set up the choice of three players to finish as we could have been guilty of ball watching to make it 7-2.

Despite no more goals there were plenty of efforts with Poppy making two class tackles inside her own penalty area to stop the striker from scoring and with one more opportunity from a corner saw Mia's strike go just wide at the post.

Overall a disappointing and slow first half for Bassett to begin with but battled well against a strong side in the second.
