Another match and another strong opponent in Marlborough this week. Without a win in 2 Bassett are hoping to bounce back.
Bassett started well as the first real chance fell to Bassett after a defenders mistake Chloe pounced on the ball but sadly her shot found the keeper.
Marlborough were loving the through ball and after a good ball was whipped across the striker put it just wide. Ruby's long goal kick evades everyone but Poppy who was chasing down on goal, her shot is destined for the corner but the keeper just saves with her foot to prevent the opening goal.
The resulting corner sees us fail to capitalise as both Alisa and Sienna are unable to bundle in.
The Marlborough striker who was dangerous all morning had a perfect opportunity as she broke through the Bassett line however her shot was just wide. But moments later got her opportunity to shine as she races through to a ball over the top and nips in ahead of Ruby to finish for 1-0. Harsh for Bassett who trail 1-0 at the break.
Marlborough started the second half the strongest and as a great ball from the nine again allows the seven to break free and her shot is comfortably saved by Ruby. And it wasn't long before Marlborough got their second and dangerous run from the nine close to the byline gave her the opportunity to deliver a dangerous ball and sadly the on rushing Poppy can only convert into her own net for 2-0.
Bassett's strongest chances had come from their corners and sadly the ball on this occasion wasn't converted leaving Bassett to ponder glorious opportunities. As up the other end a dangerous corner is delivered and after some poor ball watching from Bassett the girl is able to slot home at the far post.
Bassett continued to try and seize an opportunity and goal they deserved but it wasn't to be, Aoife's strong drive sees the keeper just make a block as she's about the fire the ball into the net and a further opportunity for Poppy goes wide at the post.
Sadly a 3-0 defeat for Bassett but a much more improved performance against a good side in Marlborough.
