Brilliant Battling Performance for Bass

After a minor delay the game started and Bassett were hoping to avenge their 4-1 defeat at home. It was very much clear from the get go that Bassett were up for it as we dominated winning the second balls and were strong in the challenge.

The first real opportunity did fall the Tidworth midfielder whose good little movement on the throw evades Holly but her strike is saved by Ruby at the near post. Bassett started to ramp up the pressure and some great play from a goal kick between Holly and Elise who finds Mia who drives forward and her cross is unlucky to go in.

Tidworth were able to win a corner and fortunately the strike is wide at the post. The winger became a tricky player all morning and went on a good drive down the wing and her cross finds their striker in the box who can't get her feet sorted and Elise is able to recover and clear away.

It wasn't long till Bassett got into the lead after some brilliant movement from Daisy who plays the ball back to the thrower in Aoife, who delivers a cross that finds Mia and her shot manages to go under the diving keeper for one nil. Again some more fabulous play out from the back from Elise and Holly, sees the latter play a ball through to Daisy who's onside in her own half and her shot is just wide of the post.

Bassett began the second half on top and after a key throw a reaction from Mia sees her touch wide but her pass Maya who just hesitates before the defender can nip in and recover to clear away.

Half time 0-1

Elsie is pressured into a mistake and sends a dangerous ball across the goal and manages to find the opponent at the back stick and fortunately her shot is wide. Tidworth then force their captain forward and she manages to pick up the ball in a dangerous area as Poppy stumbles, fortunately Poppy is able to recover to avoid the ball ending up in the back of the net.

Chloe's quick reaction from a Tidworth throws saw her pick up the ball in a dangerous area and her shot is just wide. The captain again is able to drive forward as Elsie mistimes the ball and fortunately the strikers shot is narrowly wide.

Ruby's dominant kicking from her hands helped secure a second for Bassett as Aoife reacts on a loose ball and drives forward and fires past the keeper at the near post for 0-2.

With a nervy 15mins left Bassett we're under pressure as the best opposing player was threatening on goal again as her shot is wide again but it wouldn't be too long until she was able to capitalise on a dangerous ball over the top and a minor miscommunication saw her slot in from close range to make a nervy end to the match for 2-1.

Bassett still continued to heap pressure and finish the game off as efforts from Mia were wide or saved by the keeper. Nervy times for Bassett as the Tidworth midfielder fires over from a corner.

The amount of chances in the last 10mins symbolised how tight the game was as Poppy was able to whip a ball across the box to find Mia, who's shot was destined to go top bins but saved by the goalkeeper. As Bassett scrambled to clear any Tidworth chance it fell to Daisy to try and finish the game off as she was on the end of a pass from Mia as she broke through but as Daisy is about to find the net the defender recovers to nip the ball out of her path.

Bassett hold on to a brilliant victory in Tidworth as the whole team are awarded POTM for this week's victory. Well done Bassett brilliant battle!
