Kintbury edge out Development

Royal Wootton Bassett Town suffered a narrow defeat away against Wiltshire League Premier Division title chasers Kintbury Rangers.

With the win, second place Kintbury ensured that Amesbury Town did not extend their lead at the top. However once again it was a close-run thing against Bassett as Mark Simpkins' side - who shared the points with Rangers in a thrilling 4-4 draw in the reverse fixture in December - proved to be difficult opponents.

Terry Patton put Kintbury 1-0 up, but the visitors went close on several occasions to drawing level, Charlie McCready denying Spencer Bowen with a fine save and the Bassett's leading scorer Nat Bell also going close with a couple of good chances.

The visitors' cause was not helped when defender Adam House was shown a red card after an altercation with a Kintbury player, and the home side ensured they did not concede to claim the three points to stay in touch with Amesbury at the top.
